Take route 28 north and west from the junction with Route 30 near the Pepacton Reservoir. Continue on Route 28 until just before Andes. Turn right on Route 6, the New Kingston Dunraven Road, and continue to follow this north through New Kingston to just outside of Bovina Center. Make a sharp right on Mountain Brook Road. This road starts out in good condition and RAPIDLY deteriorates. I could not get my car up to the area where you can park on state land so I asked a local homeowner if I could park. After getting permission I followed the road up the mountain until it essential ended and then turned left through a gate and followed a woods road. The woods road heads north and after about .75 miles the mountain will be to your right or east. Head east up the mountain and tag the highest point. You can follow your route back or continue on to North Plattekill. When I did it, we headed for North Plattekill and ran into thick prickers, blowdown and steep slopes. We wondered around for a total of 7 miles and then went back to the car. It was actually a "fun" hike but it could have been done in 2 miles. I also found we stopped less than .4 miles short of the North Plattekill summit!
